We are ALSO hiring Assistant Teachers for THE NEW CORY RAWSON YMCA EARLY LEARNING CENTER.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Site Director and/or Lead Teacher, the Assistant Teacher is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day tasks assigned by the Lead teacher at the specified site. She/he will be responsible for helping in leading program activities, assessment, snack preparation, cleaning, and communicating effectively with the children, their parents, Cory Rawson Early Learning Center personnel, and the center guests when needed and as assigned by the lead teacher.
AGE 16+ must meet additional requirements
PAY RATE up to 15.00 per hour (education and experience)

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. An understanding and knowledge of children, their behavior and development.
2. Specific knowledge in developmentally appropriate practices for the age group.
3. Must have or enroll in CPR, First Aid, Child Abuse Prevention, and Prevention of Infectious Diseases.
4. Warm and friendly personality and the willingness to interact with the children.
5. Meet ODJFS licensing qualifications in training and background check.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Follow directions and complete assigned tasks given from Lead Teacher and Site Director.
2. Follow Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards and Curriculum guidelines.
3. Help to maintain the daily anecdotal records.
4. Attend family events.
5. Understand and help to update a portfolio on each child.
6. Assist with self-assessments, child assessments and environmental assessments.
7. Follow YMCA/JCC childcare policies and procedures, as well as ODJFS licensing standards and Step Up to Quality regulations.
8. Follow and adhere to TQM polices.
9. Responsible for helping the Lead teacher to implement the daily lessons and the preparation of materials and supplies.
10. Help with general housekeeping tasks: disinfecting toys and tables, sweeping and mopping floors, taking trash out at lunch and the end of the day, making sure the microwave and refrigerator are clean, washing dishes, etc.
11. Maintain a professional attitude.
12. Treat children with dignity and speak to them in a friendly, positive, and courteous manner while developing the YMCA character values, caring, faith, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
13. Interact with children and encourage them to share experience, feelings, and ideas.
14. Foster the independence of children, such as cleaning up toys, hand washing, etc.
15. Use positive guidance techniques, such as redirection, anticipation, and elimination of problems, and encourage appropriate behavior.
16. Attend all staff meetings and training programs as requested by the Teacher or Director.
17. Attend 15 hours of in-service training annually.
18. Have complete knowledge of emergency procedures.
19. Assist in maintaining a high-quality learning environment.
20. Model healthy living and lifestyle.
21. Assist with other duties assigned.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Maintain a safe and secure environment for children, being always aware of child activities.
2. Work as a team member with other staff.
3. Help to maintain a learning environment with developmentally appropriate activities.
4. Communicate effectively and with respect with children, their parents, other Cory Rawson Early Learning Center staff, and center guests.
5. Report any concerns to your supervisor.
6. Respond to emergencies according to YMCA procedures.
7. Maintain confidentiality regarding personal information on children and staff.
8. Take direction from Lead Teacher.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by and employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must lift, carry, and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to fumes and/or chemicals from cleaning products and operating equipment, airborne particles such as dust, and vibrating or moving parts. The noise level is usually moderate to loud.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $11.00 - $15.00 per hour
