Job Overview

Children’s Hospital Colorado is seeking a transformational, innovative, and operationally savvy Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to lead all aspects of the human resources (HR) function for the organization. Responsible for providing strategic leadership as well as direction for operational excellence, the CHRO will facilitate building workforce capabilities and meet competitive demands as CHCO continues its organizational growth and transformation. The position is critical to the long-term success of CHCO and its ability to meet its strategic goals and objectives.

This executive will collaborate with other members of the executive leadership team to build programs and initiatives to help advance the success of CHCO and will have a close working relationship with the president and chief executive officer (CEO), Jena Hausmann. The CHRO will be responsible for advancing the HR function, including: developing a collaborative team that possesses balanced capabilities; holding the team members accountable, both individually and as a group; and creating a motivating team environment. The CHRO will lead locally and nationally competitive recruitment, retention, and compensation programs to improve overall performance and become an employer of choice.

Qualifications

EDUCATION – Master’s Degree

EXPERIENCE – Ten years of leadership experience to include five years of experience in executive leadership

EQUIVALENCY– Bachelor’s degree plus two years of leadership experience in lieu of Master’s degree

Responsibilities

  • Develops HR vision and strategy for the organization. Reviews and approves strategic plans, annual goals, and performance metrics for HR operations, ensuring conformity to the organization’s vision.
  • Functions as a member of executive leadership, providing guidance and direction to HR leaders and team members in the achievement of organizational goals and objectives; evaluates organizational performance.
  • Creates HR organizational design based on vision, developing, implementing, and maintaining HR services and functional areas to meet organizational needs. Serves as a champion of organizational culture, influencing culture change to support strategic objectives. Handles high level operational and customer service escalations for HR division.
  • Manages communications to the organization on HR vision and strategic objectives; supports communications on major projects and initiatives that are generated from supported operations.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with executives across the organization and the board of directors to drive performance towards the organization’s strategic plan; builds and maintains relationships with external stakeholders and community groups to define and support both operational and organizational strategic initiatives.
  • Assigns and reviews annual goals and strategic goals, provides work instruction (OTJ or formal training) and develops HR leaders. Evaluates performance of leaders, providing continuous feedback. Manages discipline and performance issues; hires and fires leaders. Reviews and approved resource plans for HR operations.
  • Carries overall financial management responsibility for one or more operations or the entire organization, reviewing and approving recommendations made by leaders.
  • Develops and implements broad human resources policies; serves as executive sponsor on major projects for functional areas. Provides advice and guidance to board of directors on the operational impact of strategic initiatives.
  • Ensures compliance against federal, state, and local regulations for HR operations.

Minimum Salary: $371,000
 

The salary for the position varies based on the candidate's qualifications. As a Children’s Hospital Colorado team member, you will receive a competitive pay and benefits package designed to take care of your needs that includes base pay, incentives, paid time off, medical/dental/vision insurance, company provided life and disability insurance, paid parental leave, 403b employer match (retirement savings), a robust wellness program, and access to professional development tools, including a best-in-class education benefit to help you advance your career.

As part of our Total Rewards package, Children's Colorado offers an annual employee bonus program that rewards eligible team members based on organizational performance. If organizational goals are met for the year, the bonus is paid out the following April.

Children’s Colorado delivers annual base pay increases to eligible team members based on their performance over the previous year.
